Projects for When You’re Feeling Uninspired but Still Have Glue
Hi, Creative-ish Human.
Let’s be honest: not every day is a “whip up a masterpiece and reinvent your whole vibe” kind of day. Some days, you’re just a raccoon in a hoodie staring at your glue gun, wondering what it all means. This post is for those days.
If you’re feeling creatively… meh… but still want to make something (or at least glue something to something else), here are two cheap, cheerful, and 100% low-stakes DIYs to gently coax you back into crafting mode. No pressure, no perfection—just vibes, glue, and maybe a few glitter accidents.
DIY #1: Kawaii Catch-All Shell Dish
Beachy. Witchy. Weirdly useful.
What you’ll need:
-
A disposable plastic bowl, seashell, or scallop-shaped trinket dish (great excuse to hit some yard sales)
-
Craft glue or Mod Podge
-
Summer-themed stickers, napkins or tissue paper (think strawberries, suns, citrus, frogs on floaties—you know the vibe)
-
Optional: glitter, paint pen, rhinestones, googly eyes (you know you want to)
Instructions:
-
If using, peel the layers of the napkins apart so you are left with only the thin printed layer.
-
Cover the inside or outside of your dish with a thin layer of glue or Mod Podge.
-
Stick on your paper or stickers and smooth with your fingers to remove any air bubbles. Let it dry completely.
-
Decorate the edge with gold paint, glitter, or add a rhinestone border for ✨drama✨.
-
Let dry completely, then use to hold rings, crystals, spell ingredients, or whatever’s in your pockets this week.
Why it’s great:
It’s easy, adorable, and actually useful—like a little summer altar for your keys and trinkets. Plus, it satisfies the “I want to make something” urge without requiring a single stitch.
✨ DIY #2: Tiny Banner of Emotional Support
5 minutes of chaos = 1 surprisingly cute outcome
What you’ll need:
-
A few scraps of felt, fabric, patches, or even cardboard
-
A small stick, dowel or straw + string
-
Hot glue or craft glue
-
Optional: marker, summer icon doodles, or affirmations like “You tried.”
Instructions:
-
Cut a little banner (pennant) shape out of felt/fabric/cardboard—whatever you have.
-
Glue on your design in the center like it’s the star it is.
-
Add any borders, doodles, sparkles, or sticker accents to the edges.
-
Hot glue your banner to the stick, then tie on a string to hang it.
Why it’s great:
You just made a banner of encouragement that says, “I’m a little witchy and I’m doing my best.” Hang it above your desk, your bed, or your front door.
A gentle reminder:
Creativity doesn’t always look like a finished project. Sometimes it’s just opening the drawer, touching the scissors, and calling it a day. That still counts.
So if all you do today is glue a googly eye to your soy sauce bottle or spell your name with your pasta and basil leaves—go you. You made something weird and wonderful. That’s kind of the whole point.
